About Me

My name is Megan Johnson and I am graduating Magna Cum Laude from Arizona State University in August with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. My concentration areas include International Business and Public Relations. I also have a minor in Small Business. I am excited about graduation and hope to start my career shortly after.

I would like to utilize my leadership and sales skills in order to pursue a career as a Medical Sales Representative. I first decided this was the career route I wanted to follow because I knew I had a natural talent for sales. However, I was not sure what I wanted to sell. After speaking with people in the medical sales industry I realized this was the perfect field for me. I am interested and excited about the industry. There are so many facets to the industry most people do not even know about.

I would like to pursue sales in medical equipment specifically in the plastic surgery or dermatological sector. I find these areas to be the most fascinating. There are many advances in this sector everyday. I love the idea of being on the cutting edge of new information and technology. I am excited by the thought of having to convince people to take a chance on a new piece of equipment and then hearing how much it has helped their practice once they use it. Although I do not have a medical or science background, I am quick learner. Thus, I know I can be exceedingly successful as a Medical Sales Representative.

Why Did I Choose BIS?

I decided to enter the Interdisciplinary Studies program because I felt my original program of study was not aligned with my future goals. I have completed numerous internships in the field of public relations and am interested in pursuing a career that involves skills learned in my public relations’ courses. I also enjoy spending time abroad learning about the various cultures that complete our world. I wanted to find an educational route that supported my interests. I was led to the Interdisciplinary Studies program. I am able to study International Business and Public Relations which encompass both of my interest.

I also feel it is important to be educated in a variety of disciplines. Especially in today’s world it is necessary for individuals to be well-rounded. Our world is now a level playing field. Everyday people in different countries interact. The more outlooks a person has then the better off they will be in today’s world. I feel it is necessary for me to educate myself in as many disciplines as possible in order to be successful.
